About

Most people like to read something while in the bathroom. This blog’s founders’ workplace is no exception. People would  sometimes print out articles to read while in the bathroom. When finished, they’d leave those articles there for others to read. Some were cartoons, some were business articles. We work at a software company, so some were also technical. But a lot were political. And a lot of those were on the conservative side. Nearly all of them, actually. It seems only the conservatives in the office cared to read, and share their readings.

Then in mid 2008, as the Presidential race was heating up, more political articles showed up. A lot of them critical of the Democratic party and their candidates. They weren’t just bashing, they were facts. They were well written. They posed questions and waited for answers. No answers came.

Toward the end of ‘08, and into ‘09, there were still no answers. But there were “responses.” I would find some of the articled crumpled or torn, and thrown on the floor, or next to the sink. Not in the trash can that was a few feet away. Looks like some frustrated Democrats don’t like what they read. They are leaving them visible to make some kind of statement.

Of course, they make no attempt to answer any of the posed questions. Never try to debunk any of the information. They just  go about what they do best: act like 3rd graders and throw things.

So I decided I’d had enough. Instead of the indirect questions that an untargeted article poses, I’d make a direct challenge. And the Bathroom Politics articles began.

I wrote an article of my own. I pointed out the blatant childishness of their actions. I challenged them to respond. I printed it and left it in the bathroom, just like the normal articles. Here it is for anyone to read.

I waited for a response, which in reality I knew would never come. I was right, and none did. Just like I predicted, I found my article torn up. So I wrote another. This one even more pointed. More direct challenges. Some sarcasm as well, to prove a point, which I’ll get to later. Here is that article.

This time, there was a response. Well, if you can really consider it a response. Just as I expected, it has no real content. Just bashing and ridicule. Sadly, I did not save a copy of this, so I must paraphrase. Here is that response.

I began crafting my own response, and also a third Bathroom Politics article. There was a lot of talk around the office. People were actually mad at the Bathroom Politics. Can you believe it? I present well-written articles, with coherent questions and challenges. The response was more childish tearing and bashing. And I’m the bad guy. So here they are anyway, my unpublished response, and the unpublished Bathroom Politics 3.

I decided against putting them in our bathroom because I truly believe that the majority of people just don’t get it. It sickens me, but it’s true. I decided that a blog might have a much better chance of making some kind of impact. Even if we can change the mind of just one ridiculous Leftist, it will have been worth it. So here it is… Bathroom Politics.
